The SmartyCam HD has been designed for motorsports with a single purpose...provide great videos that include all the technical information that will help you improve your performance on-track. All of this is in the most robust and reliable system ever.

In the new version, the electronics/mechanics have been further improved, and now the SmartyCam HD is easier to manage.

 SmartyCam HD Competitive Advantages

The SmartyCam HD overlays all the data you need from different sources.

From GPS, you will get a track map and vehicle position, as well as speed, lap and split times.

From your AiM data logging system when connected to your ECU, you will get RPM, throttle, gear position, acceleration, temperatures, and pressures, and more. All of this info can be overlayed in the video.

The SmartyCam HD uses the newest version of RaceStudio 3, the powerful software that allows to configure all aspects of your system, to customize your overlay.

You can configure your overlays in a virtually infinite variety of modes and layouts. Add your team's logo and display the track map. Choose your overlay objects from a list of pre-determined sets with a similar look, or even single objects from different sets. Your videos will be truly 'yours' in every detail, from the data to the graphical layouts.

The video of a whole session, once downloaded onto your PC, can now be split with a simple click! You can simultaneously watch two sessions or laps of video at the same time! See exactly where you were gaining or losing time from lap against lap.

The same style of comparison can now be performed with any SmartyCam HD video recorded on the same can now compare your best lap with your friend's personal best!

You are on the starting grid, you're ready to roll this beast on-track, your adrenaline is at an all time high...the last thing you want to worry about is switching on the in-car camera. You have more important things to worry about!

It's okay...the SmartyCam HD can help. It switches on/off automatically and starts/stops recording the same way...automatically.

Engine rumble and car vibration causes distortion in the video (and the 'wave' effect), which is not a good thing when reviewing.

Never again will you experience that seasick 'wave effect' feeling you get when watching videos recorded by a generic camera, when the car revs up. The SmartyCam HD has been designed for that environment and for those vibrations. Wave goodbye to the 'wave effect'. The SmartyCam HD uses a global shutter CMOS, which prevents this from happening.

The new CMOS significantly improves image quality in low-light conditions, reducing the 'noise' to a minimum.

A lens specifically designed for motorsports must be robust, must be able to handle heavy vibration, and must have good resolution and ambient brightness.

But, above all, a lens designed for motorsports must reduce distortion, which is a typical problem in lenses used by generic action-cameras. Objects that are ten feet away look crazy-far away, making it impossible to accurately determine distance.

The SmartyCam HD with a tele-centric, six element lens reduces distortion to a minimum and will withstand track vibration for years. Moreover, the lenses with different HFOV's allow a tailor-made framing in all sorts of vehicle environments.

The narrow HFOV lens is preferred for closed cockpit cars, as it  reaches from pillar to pillar, reducing that unpleasant black frame around typical, generic on-board cameras.

The wide HFOV lens is specifically designed for open cockpit cars, formula cars, and go-karts, where it is possible to have a more ample viewing angle without the risk of black frames or 'dead space.'.

On-board cameras are to be installed inside the car. Where should the display be at on the camera to check the correct viewing angle/position?

The SmartyCam HD features a TFT color display on the front of the camera, not on rear where general cameras place the viewfinder.

HD cameras out there are focused on the highest number of pixels possible. The result is the video files are far too large, taking up too much memory. The SmartyCam HD videos have the same quality as other HD cameras out there, but the files are much smaller because the H.264 compression. It makes all of the difference in the video-world! You can choose from three video quality settings: low, medium, or high.

Files are stored onto an SD card. As an example, with a 128GB SD card, you can store up to 30 hours of video on a single card.

Frail or weak devices do not work in the racing world. That's the truth!

An on-board camera designed for motorsports must guarantee great tolerances against the most extreme operating conditions. It is going to be hot and cold; wet and dry; Gs are going to be high and low; the car may get smashed to pieces, but a motorsports camera MUST be able to handle this world.

Hence, that is why the SmartyCam HD is made with aluminum housing.

The more robust, the better. At least, that's what we thought when building it.

In the world of video, it is small (at 87x63x49mm) and lightweight (just 280g), making the SmartyCam HD one of the easier add-ons to install on your car, bike, or whatever.
