Our all aluminum E46 M3 OEM size brake cooling backing plate design features our large "Pocket" to allow for more air flow directly into the rotor hat, where you need it.
Forcing cool air through your rotors is the ideal way to eliminate both heat build-up which will lead to premature wear on your braking system, and the heat that can boil your brake fluid making it nearly worthless.

Excellent fit !
The overall quality and fitment is excellent. I gave a 4 star because I find that using 3" hose is too tight of a fit when using the plastic under tray and I wish they make a 2.5". I ended up cutting the coupler and rivet a 2.5" coupler. Still a excellent product and light weight.
As soon as I pulled these out of the box, I could tell they were a really high quality product. They mounted right up to the OEM brake dust shield mounting points. Unlike some other brands, these guide air into the center of the brake rotor, so that the rotor vanes run cool air through the rotor. Other products I was looking at places the brake duct directly over the rotor friction surface, where it would be much less effective. I highly recommend this product.
A little disappointed that the description specifically states compatible with both standard and CSL rotors. As the backing plate is designed to be used with the standard smaller 325mm rotor, the lip that extends off the plate to create the "pocket" to the back of the rotor hat needs to be ground down significantly as it contacts the back of the CSL rotor hat since the CSL hat is larger.
Where the lip lines up and having to grind it down basically negates the point of its design when using CSL rotors. I feel bad rating 3 stars, but it's really 5-stars when using with the standard 325mm rotors and 1-star for using with CSL rotors. So 3 stars I guess.
